According to a report by The Star Online, the incident happened at around 4pm on Wednesday when the 38-year-old woman was riding the escalator between the lower ground and the basement floor of the mall.
A representative from the mall told the news portal that the woman was distracted while she was on the escalator.
The rep added that a team of rescue personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department was called to the scene and paramedics gave first aid treatment to the woman before sending her to the Sunway Medical Center.
“The shopper has received hospital treatment for a bone fracture,” the representative was quoted as saying.
The management of the shopping centre responded
Yesterday evening at approximately 4:00PM, there was an incident in the mall that involved a female shopper who has inflicted injury at the travellator between the LG/B1 floor.
The shopper was given medical attention immediately, and has been receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. The Management for Empire Shopping Gallery sincerely wishes her a smooth and speedy recovery.
