Ai Takagi, one of the founders and editors of TRS, has put out an “unreserved” apology in print to Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) for reproducing or substantially reproducing 244 of their articles on their website without permission. The apology appeared on page B3 of today’s print edition of The Straits Times.
Though the suit was filed against both TRS founders — Singaporean Yang Kaiheng and his Australian partner Takagi — only the latter’s name appeared in the apology.
According to SPH’s media statement, the suit was settled out of court, on confidential terms. An undisclosed sum of payment to SPH was also involved in the settlement. Ms Takagi has undertaken not to repeat such acts of infringement
