A 66-year-old pedestrian was sent to hospital following an accident involving a double-decker bus along Serangoon Road on yesterday afternoon.
Police said they were alerted of the incident near the junction of Belilios Road and Serangoon Road at about 4.30pm on Monday. The man was sent conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, they added.
An eyewitness who identified himself as Mr Choo Meng Foo said he was chatting with staff at the nearby Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple when he heard a loud bang and screaming, and saw the bus screeching to a halt.
Photos provided by Mr Choo showed the victim lying on the side of the road, next to the double-decker SBS Transit bus, in the aftermath of the incident. The front windscreen of the bus was cracked near its lower left corner.
Mr Choo added that the victim was bleeding on the left side of his face. Passersby in the area used a handbag and a piece of cloth to provide support for the victim’s head as they waited for police and the ambulance to arrive, he added.
