A huge fire broke out at a terrace house that was under construction on Sing Avenue on Friday evening.
In a post on the Singapore Civil Defence Force’s (SCDF) Facebook page, it was announced that the police were alerted to the fire at 82 Sing Avenue at 8.52pm.
In a video that has been circulating, alarms can be heard blaring in the distance while firefighters attempt to control the massive blaze.
According to SCDF, they were alerted to a residential fire incident at 82 Sing Avenue involving a private landed house.Upon SCDF’s arrival, the house was fully engulfed in flames. SCDF resources are currently conducting firefighting operations.

The road was also cordoned off by the police.
The SCDF said:

SCDF was alerted to a residential fire incident at 82 Sing Avenue involving a private landed house.
Upon SCDF’s arrival, the house was fully engulfed in flames. SCDF resources are currently conducting firefighting operations.
The house, which is a private landed home, allegedly belongs to an elderly couple.
At 11pm, SCDF confirmed that the fire was under control with this update on their Facebook page:

At about 8:55pm today, SCDF responded to a fire incident at 82 Sing Avenue involving a terrace house.
Upon SCDF’s arrival, the raging fire had engulfed the entire house. SCDF firefighters braved the heat to surround the fire and prevented it from spreading to adjacent residences. At about 10pm, the fire was brought under control with seven water jets. There were no reported injuries. The occupants of the affected house had self evacuated prior to SCDF’s arrival.
At about 11.30pm, SCDF issued a final update on the fire:

The fire was extinguished at about 10.45pm. Damping down operations* are ongoing.
A total of 14 firefighting and support vehicles were involved in the firefighting operation. At the height of the fire, seven water jets were used to bring the fire under control.
Police assisted in the evacuation of residents along Sing Avenue and nearby Rangoon Lane. There were no reported injuries.
*Damping down is a term used by SCDF to describe the application of water to wet burnt surfaces immediately after the fire is put out. This is to prevent any potential rekindle of fire from the hot burnt surfaces.
