Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak on Tuesday (Jun 9) pledged RM10 million (US$2.7 million) to the the local government of quake-hit Sabah for rehabilitation works.
In his speech, Najib also addressed criticism by some for not visiting the quake-hit area, and flying to Saudi Arabia for an official visit instead. He said he intended to visit earlier, but could not pull out of the trip as ties between both countries is important.
He added that he is satisfied with the search-and-rescue operations conducted, refuting criticisms that the operations had been slow.
