Former social worker, who molested a woman consecutively on two days, was jailed for four months.
Veerasamy Marimuthu, 53, admitted to one charge of outraging the modesty of the 39-year-old on Jan 6 this year and had another charge taken into consideration.
Veerasamy was at Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centre (FSC) at the time and his primary job had been to assess families who had moved into Ang Mo Kio to see if they needed help and assistance.
On Jan 5, he had gone to her home and had used criminal force to touch her hands. The next day visited her again and entered the flat under the prextext of wanting to talk to her about her children’s school needs. While sitting next to her on a sofa, he moved close to her and pulled her right hand and stroked her back multiple times. He asked why she did not allow him to kiss her and she indicated that she did not want to.
The offence came to light when she told a counsellor at the FSC two days later. Veerasamy, who is married with no children, could have been jailed for up to two years and fined.
